OCCUPATIONAL PATHS OF YOUNG PEOPLE OF BRAZIL METROPOLITAN; INACTIVITY TO STUDY OR TO BE "NI NI"? (2002 - 2015)
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the evolution of the average time in which young Brazilians remain in inactivity. In this way, we intends to considering if the behavior is associated with increases in qualification or with the phenomenon known as NEET. The analysis is performed for the period between 2002 and 2015, with the data of the Pesquisa Mensal de Emprego from Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE). The results seem to show an increase in the time in which young people remain as NEET in Brazil, especially among those between 18 and 29 years old. They also reveal a difficulty of leaving this condition, given the significant temporal dependence.
